Here at Chestnut Tree House we have recently reviewed our menus. Whilst the selection of food available to families and children has always been extremely popular we have decided to adopt the Eatwell Guide, helping everyone to get a balance of healthier and more sustainable food.
The menus will remain varied, with favourites such as the chicken and mango salad and spaghetti bolognese. In the interests of healthy eating, we are having less cakes and biscuits and providing more fruit based puddings and wholemeal alternatives for bread and pasta.
We are also trying to ensure that we all eat at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day and use less salt and sugar. So far the new menus seem to be going down well, with everyone at the house trying to eat a little healthier and to get fit.
Several members of staff have also taken up running, including the tough mudders challenge of running through mud! Personally, I think I will stick to walking my dog.
